Psychological Evaluations for Immigration

Immigration Psychological Evaluations

Understanding Psychological Evaluations

Immigration psychological evaluations provide a comprehensive assessment of the emotional and psychological impact of experiences such as trauma, abuse, separation, or hardship.

I provide immigration evaluations in English and Spanish and work collaboratively with immigration attorneys when appropriate. Each evaluation includes clinical interviews, assessment, and a detailed written report tailored to the circumstances of the case.

The Role of Psychological Evaluations

Psychological evaluations provide detailed clinical documentation of the emotional and psychological impact relevant to an immigration case. The completed report is provided to you and your attorney, who may submit it as supporting evidence in your immigration matter.

Depending on the type of case, an evaluation may document the impact of trauma or abuse, or the anticipated emotional and psychological hardship a family member may experience if a loved one is deported or required to leave the United States.

Evaluations are available for hardship waivers, asylum, VAWA, U visas, and other immigration matters.

What To Expect

Each immigration psychological evaluation is tailored to the individual and the circumstances of the case. Evaluations typically include:

  • Clinical interviews – generally completed over two sessions.
  • Comprehensive written report – clear, detailed documentation of relevant history, symptoms, and psychological impact.
  • English or Spanish – evaluations are available in either language.
  • Attorney collaboration – communication with your attorney when needed to understand the relevant legal questions and case circumstances.
  • Timely completion – reports are generally completed within approximately one week following the final interview. Expedited services may be available when needed.

Please note: A psychological evaluation is an assessment service and is separate from psychotherapy.
