Trauma can affect far more than the memory of what happened. You may notice changes in sleep, concentration, mood, relationships, or the way you respond to situations that once felt routine. Some people experience intrusive memories or anxiety; others feel increasingly disconnected, guarded, or constantly on alert.
These responses can follow a single traumatic event, an accident or injury, repeated exposure to distressing experiences, or circumstances that unfolded over time.
Sometimes the event is over, but your responses to it continue. Reminders may trigger anxiety or strong physical reactions. You may avoid certain places or situations, have difficulty sleeping or concentrating, or find yourself anticipating danger even when you know you're safe.
Trauma treatment can help you process what happened, reduce the symptoms that continue to interfere with your life, and move forward with a greater sense of stability and control.
Reclaiming safety – feeling more grounded and present in your daily life.
Reducing symptoms – easing triggers, nightmares, and hypervigilance.
Rediscovering yourself – reconnecting with creativity, confidence, curiosity, and other parts of yourself that trauma may have obscured.
Restoring connection – rebuilding relationships with yourself and others.
Strengthening resilience – developing greater capacity to navigate stress and future challenges.
Living with greater purpose – moving beyond survival mode and engaging more fully with your work, relationships, and life.
Trauma treatment is individualized to your history, symptoms, and goals. I draw from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches.
Treatment may take place through ongoing therapy or, when appropriate, through a focused EMDR intensive. Together, we'll determine the approach and pace that make the most sense for you.
I offer in-person trauma therapy in Pasadena and telehealth throughout California and Arizona. If you're considering treatment, we can begin with a consultation to discuss what you're experiencing and whether my approach may be a good fit.
